New site in the works …

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Hey Missuses!

I know you DFW music fans are sitting at home, eagerly stroking your Fu Manchu and polishing your glasses (or possibly tying back your beautiful blonde dreads), waiting for a new post on themissusband.com, so have no fear–I’m hear to talk to you guys!

Pauly’s building a new Web site as we speak to correspond with our upcoming shows and our new single. I’m not sure when it’ll be up, but my guess is that it will be soon. What I have seen of it, I’ve loved. Plus, it’s time to rest your eyes from all this red happenin’ ’round here.

Let’s see, what else is new? We practiced this weekend and the energy level was through the roof. We worked on a few new tunes that sound pretty damn good. Ryan and I are going to see the Tommorow People play the Fairmount next weekend and King Kahn & The Shrines are going to be in Dallas in March.

I think I’m out of band news. Later, y’all!

"This is going to be good, right? I can trust you?"

Ky Lewis Design

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

My friend Ky designed our “Puppy in a Pail”poster. He’s an excellent graphic designer, and he has more of his work at his Ky Lewis Design website.

I’ve worked with Ky at many magazines and other projects for many years. I really like his work–check it out!

The Missus in the studio

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Your fine, fearless friends in The Missus will be hitting the studio in March 21 to cut a single. We’re excited to record, but for now, we’re going to keep the title of the single and the A-side/B-side a secret, but check back for more info soon!

A word on Pauly’s past …

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Back in the day, or now-drummer-then-bass-player Pauly Barnes used to play for a little Tarrant indie band called St*rlet.

So, this once and all for proves that Pauly is a totally legit rocker. Once an awesome bass player, now a sweet drummer–I’m pretty sure this makes him the Paul McCartney of our band. And the Ringo. He holds both positions. I’m afraid I might be John. Not for the talent, but because I’m a verbally abusive drunk.

He’s been in some other bands, but he hasn’t shared as much about them with us. St*rlet were on this Green Light Go compilation, which is still for sale and is totally worth checking out!

New date in Dallas added!

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Hey Missuses!

We’re going to be rocking out at the Lounge on Elm in Dallas March 27 (my dad’s birthday). We’ll go on at 9:45 p.m. and play a 30 min. set opening up for the wild men in Bastardos de Sancho and The Mean Spirits, both of whom sound great.

Cover should be about $5 or $10. Come out and support yr. Fort Worth boys in Big D!

What a way to (Touch and Go)

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Pitchfork (who are 9/10 full of crap, but that’s another post), say that Touch and Go is shutting the doors on all its new music.

That’s sad news because

  1. Touch and Go was probably my favorite “big” indie label, sans maybe Matador
  2. The Missus will likely never be signed to Touch and Go

Sad, to say the least, but in the meantime, let us remember the good that once was Touch and Go.

The Message Boards

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

Hey Missuses! (pronounced Mi-sue-ses)

As you can tell, the band is gearing up for an exciting new runs of shows, recording, live concerts, singles and EPs. So, if you ain’t a member of the forums yet, get on it! We DO actively monitor them, and we answer questions. Also, kids if you got a cool band you think we should hear, the boards are the place to tell us about them.

You can get to the forums by clicking on the link at the top of the page. Go on, do it!

Also, I’m desperately looking for a copy of the song “I’m Alive” by Johnny Thunder on vinyl or even CD. if you have one, e-mail me via themissusband@gmail.com.

ADDENDUM: I had to Google how to do a screen cap.

Streaming on the site

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

If you’ve missed our Web practices, you can see some of the highlights (and some flubs) streaming just to the right of this post. The band is gearing up for a show in a couple of weeks, and they’re putting the final touches on some new dates in North Texas. Keep your eyes peeled for new info.

I’ve been on a songwriting binge myself, and I’m starting to work on a new solo EP. More as it arises!

Goodbye Ustream….Hello Mogulus

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

Well I’ve decided to dump USTREAM.tv and replace it with a better cleaner option,  Mogulus.com. You can now watch The Missus practice live on Saturdays between the hours of 11am and 3pm (give or take an hour). Mind you that might not be EVERY Saturday, but we’ll make sure everyone stays informed. Also if you havent already become a fan of The Missus by joining our Facebook group page!
