Downloadable Christmas Miracles

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Who’s up for a Christmas riddle?

What’s sweeter than Lindt’s Lindor Truffles, less poisonous than mistletoe, and more magical than Santa’s mucus?… (the answer can be found in the next line)

If you guessed “Christmas with the Missus” then you would be as right as reindeer.

We Four Missus of Fort Worth Olde have put together a few tunes that deal with Christmastime and the various trappings of the season, ranging from space bots to weather phenomena, to that neverending heartbreak that is so rawly exposed this time of year. These tracks can be streamed or downloaded, so please partake. It’s like a gift! If you’re not sure how to prepare, just don your gayest apparel, pull up with a hot cup of cider, or a cold cup of hot cider, and have a listen.

Warmest wishes,

The Missus

“That’s Mike Watt!”

Monday, December 15th, 2008

A couple of days ago, I asked Mike Watt, bassist for the Minutemen, fIREHOSE (and now the Stooges) to be friends with the Missus on www.myspace.com. Philip and I are both big fans of Watt’s work, and I’ve always respected Watt’s calm, friendly approach to playing music. When I asked him to be our friend, I sent a simple message that I really meant:

“The way you look at music is the way we want to look at music.”

I didn’t expect a response, but I thought it would be nice to tell one of our musical heroes that his philosophy (and songs) meant a lot to us.

So, a couple of days later, I get this message:

Subject:

thank you kindly!

Body:

hey there missus people,

that’s so very kind of you to write me that… maybe you wanna post as a comment? if not, it’s ok – thank you so much for being generous and big respect to you from me, truly.

keep on keepin’ on…

on bass, watt

What a friendly guy! He’s done all these great things in the music world, but he still presents himself as a humble, friendly guy. He could be rude and callous, but he’s not.

It’s an inspiration to me. Thanks, Watt, for being who you are.

New Practice Schedule this week.

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that practice has been changed to  Monday (Dec. 08) this week and will be streaming from the usual place.

Broadcasting Live on Ustream

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Well looks like we decided that we are going to take practice to the next level of nerdy…by we, I mean me. I just got the other guys to pretty much let me have my nerdgasm and maintain it. They are so SWEET!

The Missus now will be broadcasting practices Live via Ustream Tuesday Nights (Unless we decide we cant make Tuesday in which I would post on here to let viewers know). Here is out direct Video Channel that you can go to watch the Missus practice. You can even communicate with us via the Channel chat and even participate in polls.

Fun things to do:

  1. Make fun of how hairy Pauly is, maybe even refer to him as an out of control sasquatch.
  2. Giggle at Darren as he decides to give a high-note a try. Maybe call him the occasional name!
  3. Wonder what Ryan is going to sit on this evening to help promote musical genius. Will it be a Disney Princess stool? WATCH TO FIND OUT!
  4. Look at Philip and wonder if he will finally crack and the rock demons will emerge out of his eye sockets.

With our live Streaming practice the fun is endless…and who knows maybe the guys will alot me to take the next step in nerdism and let us play an online show. We’ll see how many viewers we maintain.

Hope to see you there!

New ideas at MHQ

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Hey readers/listeners,

Hope those of you who watched the practice webcast enjoyed it. We had fun working out some new songs and jamming. Hopefully we’ll have a few new songs in the next month or so. Maybe a few that are a little more laidback.

Here’s a few Christmas things we’re kicking around at Missus Headquarters (MHQ). Let us know what you think:

  • A Christmas EP for download, working title, Christmas with The Missus, that’ll feature one classic tune and four new songs, each written by a member of The Missus, including Philip’s much-talked-about Black Snow.
  • A Christmastime show at one of the local bars called Christmas With The Missus and Friends

Let us know what you think, either here, on the boards or at themissusband@gmail.com. If you’re a band or a club and the show perks your interest–contact us @themissusband@gmail.com

Live Stream Practice good to go!

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

Thanks for all of those that decided to stop by and check out our first Live Stream of Missus practice sessions. We had a few hiccups, a major sound issue, but all got corrected rather quickly (Heck we only learned we could even stream 30 minutes before we started practicing).

Well I think we are going to make a habit out of it. So expect more sessions in the future. Stay tuned.
