November 11th, 2009

Its been a fun run, but The Missus are calling it quits! Its the usual story about busy lives which is just OH SO BORING! So, to liven it up, I developed a more WWE version of the tale.

Ryan woke up one morning and realized he wanted to take over the world. He mused Philip with his music mastery into helping him on his conquest. Darren, who works for the government as an undercover operative, got word of this and quickly sought to prevent this crusade and the eventual doom of mankind! A battle ensued in the streets of Fort Worth that shook the towers. Finally an angel came down named Pauly and blew them all up with his lightning bolts. Then he blew himself up and everyone died. The End.

And that’s how the band ended. Seriously though, all is good. Its not your iconic ending with everyone going in separate directions, were just moving on.

Keep the rock people!

If the women’s room door lock is broken like it was last time the Missus was at the Lounge on Elm, one or all of the band’s members will personally guard the door while you are inside.*

*During the time the Missus are playing on stage, they will be unable to do this. However, you will not want to go to the women’s room during this time anyway.

New Songs and Getting Back to the Roots

June 23rd, 2009

Been a while since an update has been made on this site. However we are around and we are still rockin’ it.

Its getting frickin’ hot in the DFW area and our garage practices have been pretty much a sweat pool of awesome. I personally pretty much kick off my shoes, socks, put on some high rising jogging shorts and drink a shit ton of water (Doesnt help being overweight either!). Ryan, Philip and Darren seem to be handling the molten air pretty good…I think it might be making Darren go a little crazy, but thats a good thing!

So I really wanted to talk about what has been happening in the past month. I really feel we are going back to our roots as “The Missus”. For a while there songs were sort of being created outside of the practice sessions, brought in and refined and added to the collection. Not necessarily a bad thing, but after about 30 songs of that (a copyrighted Pauly exaggeration) it begins to become more repetitive. Well lately we have started making AWESOME music by just doing what came natural on the spot. Fuck around songs that just rocked. We have such great additions like “Motorcycle Death Squad”, “Fishhat Fuckwit” and “Werewolf Lane” which personally I think will be a fan favorite like “Amoeba”. I cant wait to post them, but for right now I will have to refrain.

The Missus spark is back and you can definately feel it! We will probably start booking some new shows soon so keep checking back for updates! Also remember, eyes on the drummer – he’s dead sexy.

A Return to NIMH

After taking a month off, the Missus reconvened Thursday in their new rehearsal space, referred to affectionately as “The Rat’s Nest.” Shreveport Times photographer Henrietta Wildsmith was on hand to capture the action. Check out the photos here. Arlington Heights’ own Larry Gerard (a former Olympian!!!) sat in on drums for a few ragged, and we mean really ragged, jams that included takes on “Lady Madonna,” “Purple Haze,” “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” and the blues riff in E, which eventually devolved into the Missus own “Amoeba.” From there, drummer Pauly Barnes took over the throne and the group ran through a quick set of Missus songs and took a stab at a Darren White original “Fishhat F***wit.”

Vacation time again..

April 13th, 2009

Well looks like we are on a bit of a hiatus at the moment. If you havent noticed already, we changed the site layout a bit and have discontinued broadcasting our live practices. The streaming was just taking too much time to perfect and taking away from the focus of the practice. All in all, a good thing.

We are just hanging out at the moment. Check back soon for solo projects, specifically some more “Luvclub”
